Poets are the light in a dark place, even when they dive into dark themes. -ctopher

In thinking about the power of poetry. It is not only the ability to define logic and reason, but it’s also conductive to making those who have lost hope, or feel worn out feel alive again. It can kindle fire’s of hope, and desire; however more importantly, it’s the light in dark times.

Sometimes we all lose our way. Sometimes we feel more lost than everyone else. Sometimes we can feel a mutual shared experience from seeing the same poetry and sympathize with not only the author, but also those who share the authors sentiments.

Burn

In our haste, we were too greedy to realize our loss. The day the books burned, the day the poetry was outlawed, was the day humanity was no longer human. That mystery of prose, that fancy of letters carefully crafted, was all that held the human race from regressing back to chimpanzees and emotional ameba.

The very things that make life worthy of having lived, should not be defined by your bank account balance, they are not the things you can find in a sports car. Those things are nice, but not as important as finding personal satisfaction for having taken the responsibility of a citizen and fighting for what’s best for everyone.

Today, we are faced with dilemmas that need the human mind to awaken. Rise from your slumber, and slumber no more. Without action, our future is as bleak as the day the books burned. Good Gods Urge, what kind of world do you want to live within? They couldn’t really be serious that they want mindless zombies with nothing of depth to rule chimpanzees that only dust the rocks and turn the sticks?

There has to be more meaning to life. Otherwise, of what good is living? Put value on meaning, on understanding. Have more value than being able to sweet talk the cashier into giving you a twenty percent discount. Do what you can to make life cool for someone. Find out what people need. I know what my needs are, but what does humanity really need? Well besides a swift kick in the pants?

Start Writing

If you don’t have a connection with your soul; my advice is start writing. Keep writing. Until you find the poem with the meaning of life, for it is locked away. Should you write poetry, perhaps you will learn logic and reason. Maybe you will find meaning in ideas? Perhaps, should you really use your noggin, that you can be a light in a dark time.

They say it takes a heap of sense to write good non-sense. Poets jest not with poison, use your hammer, and hot iron; that the wordsmiths may craft a world of love and compassion. Only respect the printed page, the digital bits on your screen; they weren’t something random floating in the sewer. They are here to encourage you, should you find no peace in that; then hide your poetry, lock it away in the shallow mind of yours and some dark day when you find no peace in the latest shows on tv, mark the words, you’ll wish that you knew a poet.
